Hunza, July 20, 2025 — Shah Doulat, a high-altitude mountaineer from the remote village of Shimshal in Hunza, successfully summited Gasherbrum I (8,080 m) at 11:00 AM today, according to an update shared on his official Instagram profile.

The ascent adds the eleventh-highest peak in the world to Shah’s collection of eight-thousand peaks, marking yet another significant turning point in his climbing career. One of the hardest climbs in the area is Gasherbrum I, which is situated in the Karakoram range of Pakistan and is notorious for its severe weather and technical difficulties.

In order to continue his run of climbing some of the highest and most hazardous mountains in the world, Shah intends to try Broad Peak the following week, according to his instagram post.
