About
Karakoram Base Camp
Mission
At KarakoramBaseCamp, we hold deep respect for the majestic mountains of the Hindukush-Karakoram-Himalayas and Pamir ranges, honoring them as sacred and awe-inspiring realms. Our mission is to serve as a comprehensive platform dedicated to documenting, preserving, and sharing the untold stories of adventure and exploration across these hallowed peaks. We aim to inspire adventurers, educate the public, and celebrate the extraordinary contributions of local heroes who have shaped the region’s climbing and trekking history.
Vision
At KarakoramBaseCamp, we believe that the mountains are more than mere landscapes—they are sacred and deserving of our reverence. Our mission is to unearth and archive the hidden history of mountaineering, trekking, skiing, rock climbing, ice climbing, and other adventure pursuits in the Hindukush-Karakoram-Himalayas and Pamir ranges. By spotlighting the achievements of local porters, high-altitude experts, and mountaineers, we seek to correct historical oversights and give these unsung heroes the recognition they deserve.
Through the publication of the Karakoram Journal, we strive to document and celebrate the rich climbing culture within local communities, fostering a deeper global appreciation for their invaluable contributions to high-altitude exploration. Our commitment is to preserve the legacy of these sacred peaks, promote sustainable adventure, and inspire future generations to approach the mountains with both curiosity and respect.
At Save Third Pole, our mission is to raise global awareness about the urgent need to protect the fragile ecosystems of the Hindu Kush–Karakoram–Himalaya, known as the Third Pole. We advocate for climate action, glacier conservation, and the recognition of this region’s sacred peaks and glaciers as UNESCO Natural Heritage Sites. We call for the legal personhood of these living ice giants—to honor their cultural, ecological, and spiritual significance and ensure their survival for future generations.
